Jennifer Licko – Celtic Christmas – Dec. 15, 2013

Jennifer Licko – 2  p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013

Jennifer Licko & Band

Jennifer Licko & Band

Jennifer Licko’s Celtic Christmas concert features her pure vocals with masterful interpretations of traditional Christmas songs. This concert includes lively fiddle tunes, haunting Gaelic ballads and familiar Christmas carols performed by Jennifer’s Celtic band.

“Licko, who when not playing acoustic guitar or simply singing played the bodhran (irish drum), was equally at home with the Irish and Scottish compositions and the more standard American fare; it was obvious that if she chose to stick to country or folk music, she could easily be a household name in pop music.” (Brad Rich, Tideland News, Dec. 2012)
Exhibitor: Susan Mack Bear (Glass Fusion Artist)

Jacob Johnson is a young, energetic performer and SC native who has shared stages with songwriting masters from Edwin McCain to David Wilcox, and hangs out with guitar heroes like Tommy Emmanuel and Tim Reynolds (right-hand man to Dave Matthews.) While it’s his flashy guitar pyrotechnics that might grab your attention, his songwriting, personality, and performance style are what set him apart from the rest of the pack of other young guitar-slingers.

In short, to quote Tommy Emmanuel, “Jacob rocks!”.

Tom & Jef – New Mime Theater – Mar. 10, 2013

Sunday, Mar 10 – 2:00 pm: Tom & Jef

Jef Lambdin met Tom Pierce in the 1970s. Tom was a member of the mime troupe, Mad Mountain Mime, and Jef, eager to study mime, became an apprentice to Tom’s partner, C.W. Metcalf. After a few years, they then went their merry ways: Tom to perform with his wife, Seus, in the duo Dr. Tom & Seus; and Jef to help create and perform for 17 years with NC’s Touch Mime Theater. In 2009 they got excited about working together, so here they are! Onstage they combine their madcap mime antics with their love of masks to create theater that is fun for everyone. Each performance includes an upbeat and informative demonstration about what mime is, several mime pieces, improvisation and some audience participation, too!

Ginger Garner – Feb. 16, 2013

Saturday, Feb. 16 – 6:00 pm: Ginger Garner

Musician Ginger Garner is able to cross genres from jazz to bluegrass to folk, however she considers them similar because they all describe her great love, American “roots” music. She credits her early groundings in spiritual and gospel music with shaping her vocal style. Her first performance, in a sacred musical, was at age 7. Later, her dual degrees in medicine and physical therapy helped further hone and protect her 3 octave vocal range. In additional to singing jazz, bluegrass, folk, and soul, Ginger also performs classically.  She was alto soloist for Crystal Coast Choral Society’s performance of Vivaldi’s Gloria in 2011 and performed in chorus at NYC’s famed Lincoln Center (2009) and Carnegie Hall (2010). This past summer Ginger performed in Colorado at the 28th Annual Copper Mountain Jazz and Wine Festival.

Price: $30/each (Includes heavy hors d’oeuvres & cash bar)
*Not included in membership

Location: Community Room of the Swansboro Town Hall Annex, NC Hwy 24 at Church Street, Swansboro NC.
